MADE Award winning group - Reload Remote.

We were so excited that a group from our class won first place at the MADE awards.

Here is what happend on the night.........

In the Year 1 – 3 section, the finalists are….

 

1. ‘Magic Potato Girl’ – Room 8, Maungatapu Primary

2. ‘Reload Remote’ - Room 8, Maungatapu Primary

3. ‘Come to Maungatapu School’ - Room 8, Maungatapu Primary

4. ‘Silver Bullet’ - Room 8, Maungatapu Primary

5. ‘Welcome to NZ’ – Room 24, Tahatai Coast School.

6. ‘Respect’ – Room 10, Selwyn Ridge Primary

In Third place: ‘Magic Potato Girl’ – Room 8, Maungatapu Primary

In Second place: ‘Respect’ – Room 10, Selwyn Ridge Primary

And the winner is: (drum roll)…. ‘Reload Remote’ - Room 8, Maungatapu Primary. Teacher Kate Rhodes.

Judges Comment – Children were engaged, enthusiastic, did well with presenting, were animated.  They used video in creative ways i.e. reversing it etc. It was humorous and used effects well.

It met the educational brief.

Clear explanation - the viewer knew what the product on offer was. Good demonstrated use of product.

Room 8 Music Video - Today we are going round New Zealand.

The students and I had a blast writing this new song to Brono Mars, Lazy Song.

We wrote new lyrics and then created this music video.

Even the students who didn't star in the video itself took on their own roles and responsibilities in - Research and editing, creating props and camera.

We had a great time at the Rugby World Cup. We got 3 Trys and we won!!

RUGBY WORLD CUP COUNT DOWN CLOCK

room 8 Pakaru ! we are learning to... make a video, with a green screen and pictures.

We would like to thank rm 1 for teaching us how to do this !

Once we had learnt our moves (which we practiced every day for 2 weeks), we filmed ourselves in front of a green screen and then chose some pictures we wanted to be behind us. We then worked with Mrs Rhodes and created this video. We are going to try and do our own videos later this term.

Nature walk by AM

Yesterday  our  class went  on  a  nature walk  and  we  saw  plants  and Trees  everywhere we  saw  crabs  in  the  water  we  also  went  on  a  little bush  walk  and  we  got  to  paddle  in  the  water.

We  went  in   the   ball  at  the gala. it   was   fun,we feut it was fantastdick gala .the  gala had heps of cool sttuf and we had a fun.

The Nature Walk by ZO

I saw the mount and the sea and I felt the scrunchy  leaves. I could hear the sea and I could hear the people!

We had a Gala and for our stall we did a slippery slide and I got lots of turns and then I went to the trailer toss. With my family and my nana and poppa. I went on the water walkers and there is big
beach balls and people can rid in them it was really fun.

The gala was fun and we had some Macaroni and cheese and it was yum and I went on the balls in the water. I went on the slippery slide and I had fun.

We  had  the  best  gala  ever.  They  were  fun  as  rides.  And  yum  food  like  ice  cream  yummy.
At  first it was sunny       but        it  rained.

We went to the art gallery and it was fun because it was cool and  it smelled nice.

We had smoothes and we did stick insects and we did Susie spider. I had lots of fun we made a sign for the gala. The sliprey slide.

We had an awesome gala there was a bouncy castle. We went on the bouncy castle and we brought a slushy. It was a great day.

Butterflies

In room 8 we did  butterflies  and i like putting the sprikles on it.   I cut a butterfly shape out and then we painted it. We put sprinkles on it.   SG                                        

Our art gallery dog

Room 8 went on an art gallery visit to see the exhibition by Lynley Dodd.

They had the opportunity to colour in a picture of a dog, the dog was really there for inspiration.

When we were back in room 8 the students wrote what their dog was thinking.

Room 8's learning journey

I wanted to share with parents and other students the Journey of Learning that Room 8 has been and will be doing through the year. 

The students in my class love sharing their personal experiences and I felt this would be a good way for them each to have a go at sharing something about their learning.

The blog will also be used as a tool to begin talking about how to be safe on the internet, what information we should and shouldn't make available and how the world wide web is a enormous place to gain information.
